HGH Plus ZMA Review

March 30, 2017 By Editor

HGH Plus ZMA Review

HGH plus ZMA is a hormone-boosting supplement made by Body Ripped Sports nutrition.

It aims to support muscle growth and fat-loss by increasing both growth hormone and testosterone production.

Body Ripped Sports Nutrition is an Australian supplement company, which was founded in the early 1990s.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

L-Arginine Pyroglutamate and L-Lysine

L-Arginine Pyroglutamate and L-Lysine are two amino acids that are believed to increase growth hormone levels.

Some research has shown successful increases in levels of growth hormone with about 1200mg of each amino acid (1).

A closer look at the studies, however, show some flaws in the methods used, and any results should be taken with a grain of salt.

Additional research also shows that effects of the two aminos are greatly reduced in the weight-lifting population due to exercise and protein intake (2).

Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral that’s been shown to increase sleep quality, which is linked to higher testosterone levels (3, 4).

An effective dose for this is 51mg, but higher doses have shown more effectiveness.

Zinc

Zinc is also an essential mineral.

It’s involved in the production of testosterone, and has been shown to increase testosterone levels in those with Zinc deficiencies (5).

Intense exercise depletes zinc levels quicker, which makes it an important mineral for athletes (6).

The recommended dose is 15mg daily.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting to support their hormone production, specifically growth hormone and testosterone, may benefit from using HGH Plus ZMA.

How to Take

Take 4 capsules once daily on an empty stomach.

Side Effects

Zinc and magnesium can cause vivid dreams and increase libido.

Pros

  • Zinc and magnesium are quite effective for increasing testosterone.

Cons

  • The combination of L-Arginine Pyroglutamate and L-Lysine doesn’t seem to be too effective for increasing growth hormone levels
  • Vitamin B6 hasn’t been included to aid zinc absorption (usually added to zinc and magnesium formulas).

Conclusion

The ingredients in this formula for boosting human growth hormone are still yet to be proven effective.

Although one or two positive studies have been published, most evidence points to effects being sub-bar for weight-lifters.

The formula does include a healthy dose of zinc and magnesium, and would be great for improving sleep and keeping testosterone levels high.
