Pre-JYM Review

September 6, 2017 By Editor

Pre-JYM Review

Pre-JYM is a pre-workout made by JYM Supplement Science.

It’s designed to improve your workouts by improving energy, focus, performance, and pumps.

JYM Supplement Science is a supplement brand created by Jim Stoppani – an exercise physiologist and bodybuilder.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Creatine Hydrochloride

Creatine is a naturally-occurring acid, found in animal food products.

Supplementing with it has been shown to boost power output (1).

Most research has been done on the monohydrate form, but there are claims that the hydrochloride version may be more effective.

Beta Alanine

Beta alanine is a beta-amino acid that reduces the effects of fatigue.

It does this by creating more carnosine in the body, which counteracts the and free-radical build-up caused by exercise (2).

The effective dose is about 2-5g.

Betaine

Betaine, also known as TMG, is found in sugar beets.

Studies to date show that it could improve power output and lean body mass (3).

An effective dose is about 2.5g.

Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC is a special form of choline, a “brain-boosting” vitamin.

It can provide positive improvements to memory and focus, but its main function is to increase power output (4).

An effective dose is about 600mg.

Citrulline Malate

Citrulline is an amino acid that increases levels of nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide causes a widening of the blood vessels. This can improve blood flow, pumps, and endurance (5).

An effective dose is 6-8g.

Huperzine-A

Huperzine-A is another brain-boosting compound.

It reduces the break-down of the learning transmitter, acetylcholine, which improves cognition and mental energy (6, 7).

The effective dose is between 5 0-200 micrograms.

Beet Root Extract

Beet root is a vegetable which is high in nitrates.

These nitrates boost nitric oxide levels, similar to citrulline above (8).

BCAAs

Branched chain amino acids, or BCAAs, are amino acids which are essential for muscle growth and repair.

They can reduce cortisol levels, reduce muscle breakdown, and shorten your recovery time (9).

Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant that increases alertness.

At higher doses, it can also significantly boost athletic performance (10).

An effective dose is usually between 200-500mg.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting supplement to improve all aspects of their workouts will benefit from using Pre-JYM.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (26g) with 250-500mL cold water, and consume 30-60 minutes before working out.

Side Effects

Creatine increases muscular water retention, and may result in a small gain in water weight.

Beta alanine can cause a tingling sensation in the face and skin.

Caffeine at high doses may trigger rapid or irregular heartbeat, or anxiety in those with pre-existing issues.

Pros

  • Ingredients to improve all aspects of your workouts
  • Added BCAAs
  • Clinically effective doses of most ingredients
  • Multiple flavors and tub sizes are available

Cons

  • Full doses of some ingredients are missing

Conclusion

Pre-JYM is an amazing pre-workout supplement, which has definitely been crafted by someone who knows what they’re doing.

It includes ingredients to improve virtually every aspect of your workouts, as well providing BCAAs – it’s essentially two supplements rolled into one!

The only downside is the fact that doses for some ingredients are incomplete. This was done intentionally to get you to buy Post-JYM, another JYM product with the other half of the doses.

Pre-JYM would give great results on its own, but without buying Post-JYM to go along with it, you may not realise the full benefit of this supplement.
