Mesomorph 2.0 is the second version of a pre-workout supplement by APS Nutrition.

It aims to increase energy, pumps, and performance with a multi-ingredient formula.

The 2.0 version is almost the same as the original, but replaces the now-regulated DMAA with a new ingredient (Acacia Rigidula Extract).

APS Nutrition is an American supplement company which has a supplement line featuring over 20 products aimed at boosting muscle gain and fat loss.

Active Ingredients

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine, a beta-amino acid, increases muscle Carnosine content.

This reduces the build-up of acid and free radicals from exercise, which delays muscle fatigue and improves endurance (1).

An effective dose is in the range of 2-5g.

L-Citrulline

L-Citrulline is an amino acid that can increase pumps and boost endurance (2).

When consumed, it is converted by the body to Nitric Oxide. This dilates blood vessels, increasing blood flow and the “pump” you get from lifting weights.

The effective dose is about 6-8g.

Arginine AKG

Arginine is another Nitric Oxide-boosting ingredient that improves pumps and endurance by dilating blood vessels (3).

AKG is a type of Arginine that is absorbed better than other forms (4).

The effective dose is 3-6g.

Creatine

Creatine is an organic acid that increases the production of energy (ATP) in muscle, which allows increases in power output and endurance (5, 6).

The effective dose is 3-5g daily.

Caffeine

Caffeine increases alertness and can also boost power output and athletic performance (7).

The effective dose varies with the user, but is generally about 200-500mg.

Agmatine

Agmatine is a compound that has shown some evidence for improving mood, pumps and brain health.

It eases pain and may promote recovery, but more human studies are needed to determine its effectiveness.

Creatinol O-Phosphate

Creatinol O-Phosphate is a Creatine analogue, which is beneficial for heart health.

It is unknown if it improves athletic performance or if it works when taken orally.

Theobromine

Theobromine is a compound found in Cocoa beans.

It has been shown to improve mood, cognitive performance, and insulin sensitivity (8, 9).

An effective dose is about 250mg.

Acacia Rigidula

Acacia Rigidula is a plant whose extract is claimed to have multiple active compounds.

It has been added to replace the DMAA component in the original formula, and is understood to have similar effects.

It is still under-studied, and Acacia Rigidula supplements have caused some controversy.

You may want to be careful consuming this ingredient until further research is done on effects and safety.

Who Takes It?

Any athlete wishing to improve their performance and pumps while working out may benefit from using Mesomorph 2.0.

How to Take

After tolerance has been determined:

40 minutes prior to workout, mix one scoop of Mesomorph with 250mL of water.  Stir adequately and consume immediately on an empty stomach.

Side Effects

You may feel a tingling sensation throughout your body from Beta Alanine.

If too much Creatine is supplemented at once, it may cause an upset stomach.

Acacia Rigidula Extract is not well-researched and may have unwanted side effects.
