GAT PMP Review

PMP (Peak Muscle Performance) is a pre-workout supplement made by GAT.

It’s designed to improve workout quality via increases in energy, focus, performance, and pumps.

GAT, or German American Technologies, is a supplement company founded in 1988. All of their products are manufactured in the USA.

Active Ingredients

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine is a beta-amino acid which reduces the build-up of harmful products from exercise.

This can increase endurance (1).

An effective dose is 2-5g daily.

Arginine

Arginine is a nitric-oxide booster.

Nitric oxide contributes to the dilation of blood vessels, which is what improves the “pump” and possibly endurance through enhanced blood flow (2).

Citrulline

Citrulline serves the same purpose as arginine, but is better utilised by the body than arginine (3).

An effective dose is 6-8g.

Agmatine

Agmatine is a relatively new ingredient, but its inclusion in so many supplements already suggests very good sentiment about its effectiveness.

Like arginine and citrulline, it is suggested to improve pumps, but may improve mood as well.

More research is still required.

Glycerol

Glycerol is a sugar-alcohol.

It acts as a blood-volumiser, and improves both pumps and vascularity by increasing plasma volume (4).

Tyrosine

Tyrosine is an anti-stress compound.

It reduces the production of stress hormones, which allows greater concentration and performance under stressful conditions (5).

An effective dose is between 500 and 2,000mg.

Theanine

Theanine is an amino acid which can be found in green tea.

It promotes relaxation and focus, and is often paired with caffeine to reduce any jitters or anxiety (6).

A standard dose is 100-200mg.

Caffeine

Caffeine is perhaps the most well-known pre-workout ingredient.

It increases alertness, and at higher doses can significantly boost power output and endurance (7).

An effective dose is usually around 200-500mg.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Acetyl-L-carnitine is an amino acid commonly used for fat-loss, but in this form has extra benefits.

The “acetyl-” form in particular can increase energy and concentration in those with fatigue (8, 9).

An effective dose is 2,000mg.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting to improve all aspects of their workouts may benefit from using GAT PMP.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (8.5g) with 250-300mL of cold water, and consume 15-30mins before your workout.

Do not exceed 1 serving in any 24-hour period.

Side Effects

Beta alanine can cause a harmless tingling sensation in the face and skin.

Caffeine can cause sleeplessness when taken within a few hours of bedtime.

Pros

  • A huge variety of ingredients are used to improve all aspects of your workout
  • Multiple pump and focus-boosting components.

Cons

  • The use of proprietary blends means that we don’t know the exact quantities of each ingredient. Some are likely under-dosed.

Conclusion

GAT PMP is a pre-workout that uses a range of the most well-researched ingredients to boost every aspect of your workout.

Since many of the ingredient quantities are hidden in proprietary blends, there is a chance that some are not included in optimal doses.

Overall, however, GAT PMP should do well in energising you for high-quality workouts, with excellent pumps and focus.
