Active Ingredients

Vitamins

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is important for a variety of things, including the eyes, skin, bones, and your immune system (1).

This formula contains retinol, a form of vitamin A which can directly be used by the body.

B Vitamins

There are multi B-vitamins, which all play important roles in metabolism. They’re important for growth, energy, mood, and general immunity.

Mega-Multi for Men includes doses of all of the essential B vitamins.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is well-known for its antioxidant benefits. These contribute to immunity, mood, and blood flow.

Research has shown that vitamin C can greatly reduce the risk of catching the common cold if you’re an athlete (2).

Vitamin D

We know that vitamin D levels can be high in summer, when we get a lot of sun exposure.

In winter months, however, it may be important to increase your oral intake of the vitamin.

It’s strongly recommended for its positive effects on everything from mood to immunity and healthy testosterone levels.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant.

It reduces the amounts of free-radicals in the body, and can improve immunity, cholesterol, and skin health (3).

Vitamin K1

Vitamin K1 is usually found in leafy greens.

It’s important for blood clotting, and may assist calcium transport throughout the body.

Minerals

Calcium

Calcium is a vital mineral for bones health.

It’s found most commonly in dairy products and vegetables.

Iodine

Iodine is a mineral which is important for thyroid health which is important in metabolism (4).

Those who have low-seafood diets or don’t consume iodised table salt may be deficient in iodine.

Iron

Iron plays a crucial role in the delivery of oxygen to the muscles.

Athletes tend to need more iron than most people due to it being depleted faster during exercise (5).

Magnesium

Magnesium is a very important mineral, and it has been shown that many people in the modern world are deficient in it.

It plays an important role in blood pressure and insulin sensitivity, and may also help with physical performance (6).

Magnesium Oxide, used here, is poorly absorbed and may have a laxative effect.

Manganese

Manganese is used in a bunch of processes including making collagen, as well as producing testosterone and regulating blood sugar (7).

Selenium

Selenium is a stron anti-oxidant, which is involved in thyroid and immune function.

As with other minerals, athletes are often deficient in selenium (8).

Zinc

Zinc is an important mineral for athletes, since it is often lost via sweat.

It’s important for a bunch of things including testosterone levels (9).

Once again an oxide form is used, which is not well-absorbed by the body.

Who Takes It?

Those wanting a multivitamin which will improve their general health and wellbeing may benefit from using Mega-Multi for Men.

How to Take

Adults take one tablet per day, with a meal.

Side Effects

Many of the ingredients in multivitamins could have adverse side effects if taken above the recommended dose. Make sure to stick to the dosing recommendation on the label.

Pros

  • Contains a huge range of vitamins and minerals
  • Includes minerals which are important for athletes.

Cons

  • Poor quality forms of many ingredients.

Conclusion

Mothernest Mega-Multi for Men is a multivitamin supplement with a standard wide-range of vitamins and minerals, and for the most part includes solid doses of each inclusion.

Where it fails, is in the form that some of these are delivered oxides of minerals such as magnesium and zinc, for example, are very poorly absorbed, and may even have a laxative effect.

You can still expect a good all-round boost to health, but there may be better products out there.
