Elemental Anabolic Mass Review

February 13, 2017 By Editor

Elemental Anabolic Mass is a mass-gainer protein powder by Elemental Nutrition.

It is designed to help increase size, strength, and testosterone levels.

To assist with this, it includes many ingredients that are not usually found in a protein supplement.

Elemental Nutrition is an all-Australian company, who sell both individual ingredients and mixed formula products.

Active Ingredients

Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin is a processed carbohydrate powder, made from a variety of plant starch sources.

It has a very high glycemic index (even higher than sugar), which makes it fast-absorbing. This can be good to take in small amounts along with protein after a workout, but shouldn’t be consumed in large amounts – especially if you are a diabetic.

Casein Protein

Casein is one of two types of protein found in milk.

It is known to be slower-absorbed than other types of protein, making it a great source of protein to have before bed.

Whey Protein

Whey is the other protein in milk.

It’s absorbed faster than most other forms of protein, and has been shown to significantly increase muscle growth and repair (1).

This makes it great for consumption post-workout.

Creatine

Creatine is a performance-enhancing compound that is found naturally in foods like meat and eggs, but in quite small amounts.

The most proven and cost-effective form is Creatine Monohydrate. It increases energy production in our muscles, which can increase strength, power output and endurance (2).

The type of Creatine used in this formula is not specified.

Glutamine

Glutamine is an amino acid that’s been linked to increased muscle growth and repair (3), but studies testing it alongside protein and BCAAs haven’t shown extra benefits (4).

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine is a beta-amino acid that increases the levels of a substance called Carnosine in our muscles.

This can reduce the acid and free radicals that accumulate during exercise, which in turn increases endurance (5).

The effective dose is 2-5g daily.

Tongkat Ali

Tongkat Ali is a flowering plant. It that has shown some promise in boosting testosterone levels in those with low levels (6).

An effective dose is 200-300mg.

ZMA

Zinc, Magnesium, and Vitamin B6 are often combined as a stack called “ZMA”.

It can increase testosterone levels if you are deficient in zinc, as well as prevent decreases in zinc caused by intense exercise (7, 8).

Magnesium can aid sleep, allowing better recovery and production of testosterone, which is highest during sleeping hours.

Tribulus Terrestris

Tribulus Terrestris is a plant that is used to enhance libido, but may not increase testosterone levels.

Studies have only shown testosterone boosting effects in infertile men (9).

D-Aspartic Acid

D-Aspartic acid has shown success for short-term increases of testosterone (1-2 weeks), but this increase tends to drop off in fertile men (10).
The effective dose is about 2-3 grams a day.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wishing to put on weight quickly as well as increase their testosterone will benefit from Elemental Anabolic Mass.

How to Take

Mix 100g of Elemental Anabolic Mass with 500mL of water or milk, and consume when desired.

Side Effects

Maltodextrin can sharply spike insulin when taken in large amounts, which can be dangerous if you are diabetic.

An increase in libido is common with test-boosting ingredients.

Mood may be altered with changes in hormone levels.

Pros

  • Mixture of fast and slow-releasing protein
  • High-calorie formula for weight gain
  • Plenty of test-boosting ingredients.

Cons

  • Maltodextrin is not the best carb source to be taking in large amounts (high GI)
  • Not all of the test-boosting ingredients are effective.

Conclusion

Elemental Anabolic Mass is a unique formula that combines your typical mass-gainer protein with some test-boosting ingredients.

Although the carbs are not the healthiest kind, it would be great for consumption post-workout.

Combined with a decent diet, you should see some good mass gains and some minor increases in testosterone.
