Tri-Pep Review

Tri-Pep is an amino acid product made by Metabolic Nutrition.

It’s designed to reduce muscle breakdown during workouts, and improve growth and recovery.

Metabolic Nurtition is a supplement company based in Florida, USA.

Active Ingredients

Tri-Peptide BCAAs

BCAAs, or branched-chain amino acids, are well-known for their ability to prevent the breakdown of muscle during exercise, as well and improve recovery (1).

The BCAAs in this formula are not the usual free-form amino acids you see in most formulas.

Instead, they’re in a special “peptide” form, which means they’re attached to a small chain of other molecules.

Studies show that in this form, amino acids can be more rapidly absorbed than regular free-form aminos, possibly allowing them to kick in faster (2). This however does not necessarily mean they will be more effective.

There are also less actual BCAAs in each gram of this formula than your typical amino acid supplement, due to the rest of the molecules taking up space.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting to reduce muscle breakdown and improve their recovery time may enjoy using Tri-Pep.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (10g) with 350-450mL water, and consume either during or after your workout.

Side Effects

There are no significant side effects associated with the ingredients in this formula.

Pros

  • Mixes more easily with water than regular BCAAs
  • Faster-absorbing than free-form BCAAs
  • Wide range of flavours to choose from.

Cons

  • Quicker absorption doesn’t mean more effective
  • Less actual BCAAs per scoop than regular amino acid products.

Conclusion

Tri-Pep puts an interesting spin on its amino-acid formula, with a faster-absorbing form of BCAAs.

Unfortunately, this may be nothing more than a gimmick, as regular BCAAs are already very quickly absorbed. Further, there are less actual BCAAs per scoop than you’d find with a more regular formula, which means you’d likely need to take a larger dose than usual.

For most people, a regular BCAA formula may be better value for money.
