Maxine’s PURE Protein Review

August 27, 2017 By Editor

Maxine's PURE Protein Review

PURE Protein is a protein powder made by Maxine’s.

It’s a vegan protein powder, designed for lean muscle gain.

Maxine’s is the female-focused branch of MAX’s – an all-Australian supplement company.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Pea Protein

Pea protein is probably the most-used plant protein.

Unlike some other plant protein sources, pea protein contains similar amounts of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) to whey protein (1).

These are the most important amino acids for muscle growth and repair.

Rice Protein

Rice protein is another high-quality, plant-based protein.

It’s commonly combined with pea protein, due to its complementary amino acid profile and the smoother texture of rice protein (2).

Raspberry Ketone

Raspberry ketone is a possible anti-obesity compound.

It’s only been studied well in rats, so we don’t how great it is in humans.

Green Coffee Extract

Green coffee beans contain a compound called chlorogenic acid.

It’s been shown to promote fat-loss, and also improve heart health (3).

African Mango

African mango is a plant with compounds that help with weight loss.

Studies suggest that this weight loss may be produced by appetite suppression (4).

An effective dose is about 150mg of extract.

Green Tea

Green tea contains compounds called “catechins” which can significantly improve fat oxidation (5).

The effective dose is 400-500mg.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a protein powder that also assists with fat-loss will benefit from using PURE Protein.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (25g) with 250mL water or skim milk, and consume either after working out or as desired.

Side Effects

Consuming large quantities of protein can worsen an existing kidney or liver condition.

Green coffee extract may have mild laxative effects.

Pros

  • Vegan-friendly
  • Great for those who can’t consume dairy-based protein
  • Fat-burning ingredients included in every scoop

Cons

  • Not quite as many BCAAs per serving as whey

Conclusion

PURE Protein is a perfect substitute for whey or other protein powders – especially for people who require something vegan or lactose-free.

It’s also packed with fat-burning ingredients, which give it many more benefits than a regular protein powder.

The inclusion of rice protein (as opposed to pure pea protein) provides an improvement on both taste and texture, making it a great all-round choice for vegans.
