Mars Protein Review

July 20, 2018 By Editor

Mars Protein Review

Mars® Protein is a protein powder which is designed to taste just like the original Mars® chocolate bar.

Unlike the indulgent chocolate treat, the protein powder is low-calorie and high in protein, and designed to help improve muscle recovery and size.

The famous Mars® chocolate bar has roots that go all the way back to 1932, and have recently entered the fitness market with a high-protein bar, as well as a flavoured protein powder.

Active Ingredients

Whey Protein Concentrate

Whey is the primary protein found in cow’s milk.

It’s a fast-absorbing protein, which is well-known for its ability to improve the rate of muscle growth and repair (1).

Whey protein concentrate is a roughly-refined form of whey, which has some of the fats and carbohydrates removed.

Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is a more refined version of whey, which eliminates almost all of the extra fat and carbohydrates.

It’s usually about 90% protein by weight.

Hydrolysed Whey Protein Isolate

Hydrolysed whey is the fastest-absorbing of the three types in this formula.

It’s partially broken down into smaller building blocks, which are more rapidly taken up by the body.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a delicious but reliable protein powder may enjoy using Mars® Protein.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (35g) with 250mL water or milk, and consume post-workout, or as desired.

Side Effects

Excess protein consumption may worsen an existing kidney or liver condition.

Pros

  • Tastes great
  • Has the same protein content as most basic protein powders on the market.

Cons

  • Although the taste is popular, users say it doesn’t resemble that of the snack bar
  • More expensive than other protein powders.

Conclusion

On a supplement level, Mars® Protein is a regular protein powder, with an above average taste.

Although the general feedback is that it tastes great, users mention that it doesn’t taste much like a Mars® bar – which was kind of the point of the product!

It has a typical amount of whey protein per serve, and you can expect similar results to a regular protein powder.
