International Protein Amino Charged WPI Review

February 19, 2017 By Editor

Amino Charged WPI is a protein powder by International Protein.

It’s a low-calorie, high-protein formula, and is designed for lean muscle gain.

International Protein is a supplement company founded by three-time world-champion Christine Envall, an Australian female bodybuilder.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is an extremely refined form of whey – the primary protein found in milk.

Almost all of the fats and carbs are removed, leaving a very pure protein powder.

It’s quickly absorbed, and has been shown to notably increase the growth and repair of muscle (1).

Whey Peptides

Whey peptides are a broken-down form of the protein, which are even faster absorbed than regular whey.

Glutamine

Glutamine is an amino acid that can increase muscle growth and recovery, but it doesn’t have any extra benefits when taken with protein or BCAAs (2).

L-Arginine

Arginine is an amino acid that boosts nitric oxide levels.

This can improve pumps and endurance, through the dilation of blood vessels (3).

It may also improve recovery and growth by boosting human growth hormone, but this is a small and unreliable effect (4).

An effective dose is around 3-6g.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a lean and quick-absorbing protein source will enjoy Amino Charged WPI.

How to Take

Mix 1.33 scoops (40g) with 200-300mL cold water or milk, and consume as needed.

Side Effects

Excess protein consumption can worsen an existing liver or kidney condition.

Pros

  • Low-calorie formula
  • Quick-absorbing forms of protein
  • Large range of flavours available.

Cons

  • Glutamine may not provide any extra benefits
  • The dose of arginine isn’t that high, and might not be very useful either.

Conclusion

Amino Charged WPI is your typical low-calorie, high-protein formula.

It’s very quickly-absorbed, which makes it perfect for using pre or post-workout. The low-calorie nature of the formula is also very suitable for those who are losing weight.

Although the added glutamine and arginine sound like a nice touch, they most likely won’t provide you with much of an extra edge.
