Cor-Performance Whey Review

August 3, 2016 By Editor

Cor-Performance Whey by Cellucor

COR-Performance Whey is a post-workout protein powder by Cellucor.

It aims to aid the recovery process by providing a quick source of protein.

This protein is best known for its amazing range of dessert-style flavours, including Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Red Velvet.

Cellucor is an award-winning brand, best known for its supplement C4 Extreme, which won bodybuilding.com’s pre-workout of the year in 2014.

Ingredients Label

COR-Performance Whey

Active Ingredients

Whey Protein (Concentrate and Isolate)

Whey Protein is one of the two proteins found in milk. It is absorbed faster than other forms of protein and notably increases muscle protein synthesis (1).

This makes it perfect for post-workout consumption and general bodybuilding supplementation.

A combination of Isolate and Concentrate makes it lower in carbs and fats, and higher in protein content than a 100% concentrate formula.

Digestive Enzymes

Protease and Lactase are molecules that help our bodies break down and absorb food. Protease helps in the digestion of proteins, while lactase helps with lactose.

In theory, it should be useful to add Protease to break down the large amount of protein.

The mechanism however is unknown, and it is argued that when taken orally, stomach acid breaks it down before it has a chance to work.

Lactase, however, may be useful for easing the digestion of the lactose.

Who Takes It?

COR-Performance Whey is aimed towards all athletes seeking a post-workout protein supplement, to assist with muscle recovery and growth.

How To Take

Mix 1 level scoop with 250mL of water or milk, and consume after exercise.

Cellucor also provide a variety of recipes on their website for use of COR-Performance Whey.

Side Effects

Whey protein can sometimes worsen existing kidney or liver damage. Exercise caution if you already have kidney or liver conditions.

Pros

  • Simple and to-the-point formula, without any unnecessary extras
  • No carb or fat fillers
  • Amazing range of dessert-like flavours, with recipes to use it in
  • Added lactase makes sure you can process the lactose content

Cons

  • No other “special” ingredients are added, such as Creatine or extra BCAAs

Conclusion

Cellucor has a simple, effective product in COR-Performance Whey – they’ve cut out unnecessary extras to maximise protein content, while offering a range of some of the best flavours on the market.

This makes for a versatile protein that can be used both post-workout and to cook high-protein snacks.
