Total War Review

Total War is a pre-workout supplement made by Redcon1.

It’s designed to boost energy and athletic performance, for better workouts.

Redcon1 is an American supplement brand, based in Florida.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Citrulline

Citrulline is a nitric-oxide boosting compound.

Increasing nitric oxide can help with vasodilation, which is a widening of the blood vessels.

This allows extra blood flow, contributing to improved endurance and pumps (1).

Beta Alanine

Beta alanine is a compound that also improves endurance.

It’s used by the body to produce carnosine, which counteracts fatigue-causing by-products from exercise (2).

An effective dose is between 2 and 5 grams.

Agmatine

Agmatine is another nitric oxide booster, which assists with pumps and endurance (3).

It’s also currently being researched for its positive effects on mood and reducing stress.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid, best-known for its inclusion in energy drinks.

It reduces fatigue during exercise, and improves nutrient uptake by muscle cells (4).

Caffeine

Caffeine increases energy and alertness, as well as athletic performance when taken at higher doses (5).

Total war also includes dicaffeine malate, a slower-releasing form of caffeine.

The effective dose usually ranges between 200-500mg.

Eria Jarensis

Eria Jarensis is a plant in the orchid family.

Its active ingredient is n-phenyldimethylamine, a compound which is said to have similar effects to both DMAA (banned stimulant) and PEA (mood-booster).

More research needs to be done on this ingredient.

Theobromine

Theobromine is a compound found in cocoa.

It’s been shown to have a bunch of positive effects such as increases in cognition, mood, and insulin sensitivity (6, 7).

Yohimbine

Yohimbine is a compound found in the bark of the yohimbe tree.

It’s a potent fat-burner and stimulant, which appears to only work on an empty stomach (8).

The effective dose is around 14-22mg.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting to improve their workout performance and quality will enjoy using Total War.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (14g) with 250mL water, and consume 30 minutes before your workout.

Side Effects

The stimulants in Total War may trigger rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, or anxiety, especially in those with pre-existing issues.

Beta alanine may cause a harmless tingling sensation in the hands or face.

Pros

  • Big energy boost
  • Clinically-effective doses of ingredients
  • Increased absorption with naringin and piperine
  • Huge range of flavours.

Cons

  • May be too high in stimulants for some people
  • Side effects of some eria jarensis are unknown.

Conclusion

Total War is a pre-workout supplement that is very high in stimulants and nitric-oxide boosters.

You can expect a huge energy and mood boost, along with impressive improvements to both pumps and endurance.

The stimulant content may be too high for many people, so if you’re sensitive to stimulants this might not be the supplement for you.

The formula is available in a whopping 9 different flavours, so you’ll never have to get sick of taking it!
