Citrulline Malate

Increasing nitric oxide helps with pumps and endurance by dilating the blood vessels, and improving blood flow (1).

The effective dose is 6-8g.

Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin

Highly branched cyclic dextrin is a type of fast-releasing carbohydrate.

It can improve endurance and energy during exercise, when used in a similar way to dextrose (2).

Betaine

Betaine is a naturally occurring compound, which can improve power output (3).

It may also improve body composition.

An effective dose is about 2.5g.

Glycerol

Glycerol is a “sugar-alcohol” which is used as a plasma-expander.

This can increase the total volume of blood in the body, which may fill out the blood vessels and contribute to pumps (4).

Beetroot

Beetroot is a vegetable which contains high amounts of nitrates.

Nitrates are another type of nitric-oxide booster, which contribute to pumps and performance (5).

Tyrosine

Tyrosine is an amino acid, which helps to counteract stress.

It can improve performance under stress or fatigue, especially in terms of mental performance (6).

The effective dose is 500-2,000mg.

Taurine

Taurine a compound which regulates water and nutrient uptake into muscle cells.

It been shown to have fatigue-reducing effects (7).

Who Takes It?

Athletes who want a stimulant-free pre-workout which improve pumps and performance may enjoy using Virus.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (15g) with 250mL water, and consume 30 minutes before working out.

Side Effects

There are no major side effects associated with the ingredients in Virus.

Pros

  • Improves both performance and pumps
  • Can be taken as a standalone product, or in combination with another pre-workout
  • Won’t disturb sleep when taken at night.

Cons

  • Doesn’t increase energy very much
  • Doses of some ingredients could be higher.

Conclusion

Virus is a pre-workout formula which contains no stimulants, aimed mostly at improving pumps.

It contains a bunch of ingredients which increase pumps in a complementary way, however some of these could’ve been dosed a little better.

Unlike many similar products, it contains a couple of extra ingredients which contribute to other effects such as performance and focus.

Thanks to its stimulant-free nature, you can safely combine Virus with another pre-workout supplement of your choice, or use it as a standalone product for late-night workouts without interrupting your sleep patterns.
