Red, White & Boom Review

Red, White & Boom Review

Red, White & Boom is a pre-workout produced by Merica Labz.

It’s a high-stimulant formula, designed to improve energy, pumps, and performance.

Merica Labz is a supplement and apparel company, which has a small range of pre-workout, amino acid, and test-booster products.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Citrulline Malate

Citrulline is a nitric oxide booster.

Nitric oxide dilates the blood vessels, which can lead to better pumps and endurance (1).

The malate form has also shown evidence for reducing muscle soreness.

An effective dose is 6-8g.

Creatine

Creatine is an organic acid found in animal food products.

It can reliably improve power output and endurance by increasing the production of muscular cellular energy (2, 3).

An effective dose is 3-5g daily.

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine is a beta-amino acid.

It increases levels of a compound called carnosine, which reduces the acid and free radical build-up caused by intense exercise.

This can significantly improve endurance (4).

The effective dose is 2-5g daily.

Caffeine

Caffeine increases alertness, but it can also influence athletic performance at higher doses (5).

An effective dose ranges between 200-500mg, and depends on the individual.

DMHA

6-methylheptan-2-amine is a scientific name for a substance called DMHA.

DMHA lacks the appropriate research, but has been reported to have similar effects to the now-banned DMAA.

Due to the controversy with DMAA, we recommend being cautious with this kind of ingredient.

Synephrine

Synephrine is a compound found in a fruit called bitter orange.

It’s most commonly used to suppress appetite and increase metabolic rate, but it may also increase energy levels (6).

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a high-stimulant pre-workout will enjoy using Red, White & Boom.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (18.7g) with at 250mL cold water, and consume 30 minutes before working out.

Side Effects

Beta alanine is known to cause a harmless tingling sensation in the face and skin.

Creatine and caffeine can upset the stomach when taken with insufficient water.

The high dose of stimulants in this product may cause rapid or irregular heartbeat, or trigger anxiety.

DMHA has similarities to the banned substance DMAA, and could have dangerous side effects.

Pros

  • Perfect for stimulant lovers
  • Full, clinically-effective doses of all ingredients

Cons

  • Potentially dangerous doses of stimulants, especially the inclusion of DMHA
  • Only two flavours available
  • No focus ingredients

Conclusion

Red, White & Boom is definitely not a pre-workout for the faint-hearted.

If the 400mg of caffeine isn’t enough alone, the added DMHA and synephrine will be more enough to energise practically anyone for their workouts.

All performance-boosting ingredients are dosed very well, assuming you can tolerate a full scoop.

The only thing that it lacks is the inclusion of focus ingredients, which would be very helpful to assist with any jitters or anxiety.
