MusclePharm Wreckage Review

Wreckage is a pre-workout supplement made by MusclePharm.

It’s designed to improve energy, focus, pumps, and performance, for improved workout quality.

MusclePharm is a best-selling supplement brand, which has been around since 2008.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Citrulline

Citrulline is an amino acid which is found in watermelon.

It can boost nitric oxide levels, which can dilate blood vessels to increase pumps and endurance (1).

The effective dose is around 4g.

Vaso6™

Vaso6™ is a special trademarked form of green tea extract, which also boosts nitric oxide levels (2).

Beta Alanine

Beta alanine is a compound which reduces fatigue levels by enabling the body to produce more carnosine.

Carnosine has the special ability to counteract free radicals and acid during exercise, which usually trigger fatigue (3).

The effective dose is between 2-5g.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid which also has fatigue-reducing benefits (4).

It improves nutrient and water uptake into muscle cells, which may also contribute to better pumps and performance.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a well-known stimulant that improves energy levels.

At higher doses it can also boost athletic performance, especially in terms of power output (5).

An effective dose is often 200-500mg.

Tyrosine

Tyrosine is an amino acid which can increase performance in those who are stressed or fatigued.

This may be via a reduction in stress hormone levels (6).

Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC is a form of choline, a compound which boosts cognition.

Although it may boost memory and focus, it has been researched also for its power-output boosting abilities (7).

The effective dose for power output is around 600mg.

Theanine

Theanine is an amino acid that has relaxation effects.

It can be used synergistically with caffeine to take of the stimulant’s “edge”, and improve concentration (8).

An effective dose is 100-200mg.

NeuroFactor™

Neurofactor™ is a coffee fruit extract which has been shown to increase BDNF, a compound that’s important for the health of the brain and nervous system.

It may improve memory, mood, and energy levels (9).

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting to improve the quality of their workouts may enjoy using Wreckage.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (14.3g) with 250mL water, and consume 30 minutes before working out.

Side Effects

Beta alanine can trigger a harmless tingling feeling in the face and skin in some people.

Pros

  • Great for pumps and energy levels
  • Contains some new and exciting ingredients
  • Available in three delicious flavours.

Cons

  • Some of the ingredients are not used in big enough doses
  • Could benefit from more ingredients for physical performance.

Conclusion

Wreckage is a pre-workout supplement which has some decent pump and energy ingredients in excellent, effective doses.

It may, however, fall short in terms of boosting physical performance. Although it contains some ingredients for this, they are on the lower end of the dose range.

The formula does include some exciting new trademarked ingredients, which look very beneficial for mental performance and pumps.
