Giant Pump Review

Giant Pump Review

Giant Pump is a pre-workout supplement made by Giant Sports.

It’s a stimulant-free formula, designed to improve pumps during your workouts.

Giant Sports in an American supplement company, which was founded in 2012.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Glutamine Nitrate

Nitrates are a type of compound found in beetroot and some other vegetables.

They’re converted by our bodies to nitric oxide, which can trigger vasodilation – an expansion of the blood vessels.

This effect can enhance blood flow, pumps, and endurance (1).

Glutamine nitrate may also provide benefits from the glutamine part of the molecule, which could improve muscle retention and repair (2).

Glycerol

Glycerol is classed as a “sugar-alcohol”.

It acts a plasma-expander, increasing the overall volume of blood in the body (3).

This improves pumps synergistically with vasodilators, like the nitrates above.

Vitamin C

Although vitamin C isn’t ideal for pre-workout use alone, it’s important to use in combination with nitrates.

Nitrates usually lose their effectiveness on the body over time via “nitrate tolerance”. Vitamin C has been shown to eliminate this decline (4).

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a stimulant-free pre-workout for improving pumps will enjoy using Giant Pump.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (3.77g) with 250mL water, and consume 20 minutes before working out.

You can pair Giant Pump with another pre-workout for enhanced effects.

Side Effects

Nitrates may upset the stomach if taken without sufficient food or water.

Pros

  • Two-pronged effect on muscle pumps
  • Vitamin C to reduce nitrate tolerance
  • Special glutamine form of nitrates might also reduce muscle breakdown

Cons

  • No ingredients to improve additional aspects of your workout
  • Large quantities of vitamin C around workout time may be detrimental to progress (5)

Conclusion

Giant Pump is a very basic formula that only aims to improve one aspect of your workouts: the pump.

It works well for this, using both a vasodilating agent in nitrate, and a blood-expander in glycerol.

Apart from these two effects, however, there’s not much else this formula will do for you.

Since its stimulant-free, you could choose to pair it with another pre-workout product for a wider range of effects.
