Blackstone Labs Hype Extreme Review

Blackstone Labs Hype Extreme Review

Hype Extreme is a pre-workout made by Blackstone Labs.

It’s a stimulant-free formula which can be used either alone, or alongside other products to improve your workouts.

Blackstone Labs was founded in 2012 in Florida, USA.

Ingredients Label

Active Ingredients

Glycerol

Glycerol is a sugar-alcohol, which acts as a “blood-volumiser”.

It can improve vascularity and pumps by increasing plasma volume (1).

Sodium Nitrate

Nitrates are a class of compounds which are converted by the body to nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide can increase vasodilation – an expansion of blood vessels that increases blood flow and the pump (2).

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola rosea is a herb that has anti-stress effects.

It reduces stress hormones, and reduces the symptoms of fatigue (3).

An effective dose is 50mg daily.

Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC a form of choline – a vitamin that supports brain function.

On top of its brain-boosting benefits, this form of choline also improves physical performance by increasing power output (4).

An effective dose is about 600mg.

Huperzine-A

Huperzine increases levels of acetylcholine – the “learning” compound – in the brain.

This can improve both cognition and mental energy (5, 6).

An effective dose is 50-200 micrograms.

Who Takes It?

Athletes wanting a stimulant-free pre-workout that improves focus and pumps will enjoy Hype Extreme.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (8g) with 250mL cold water, and consume 30 minutes before your workout.

You can also take Hype Extreme along with a stimulant-containing pre-workout to enhance its effects.

Side Effects

Some of the ingredients in Hype Extreme can cause headaches.

Another thing to note is that glycerol is banned by the World Anti-Doping Association. This is due to its use as a masking agent, sometimes used to disguise signs of doping.

Pros

  • Stimulant-free formula won’t interfere with sleep if taken at night
  • Can be paired with other pre-workouts containing stimulants
  • Multiple ingredients to reduce fatigue and enhance focus

Cons

  • Contains less performance-boosting products than other pre-workouts
  • Nitrates lose their effect over time due to tolerance

Conclusion

Hype Extreme is a great stimulant-free pre-workout, which can be used both as a standalone product, or along with other pre-workout supplements.

On its own, it provides plenty of pump and focus-improving effects, and is great for fueling late-night workouts.

On the other hand, however, its strength and endurance boosting effects aren’t as powerful as other products.

It would be best used in conjunction with a second pre-workout – one that contains caffeine and performance boosters, such as creatine and beta alanine.
