Active Ingredients

Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine is an organic acid found in small amounts in animal food products.

It increases the body’s production of ATP energy in muscle, improving power output and endurance (1, 2).

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine is a beta-amino acid that boosts our Carnosine levels.

Carnosine can reduce the acid and free radicals produced by exercise, improving endurance (3).

The effective dose is 2-5g daily.

Caffeine

Caffeine can increase alertness, as well as power output and athletic performance (4).

An effective dose is about 200-500mg, and varies quite a bit with the individual.

Betaine

Betaine is a compound found in sugar beets.

Studies show that it might be able to improve power output and improve body composition (5).

More research is needed to conclude its effects.

The recommended dosage is 2.5g.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is a compound used by the body in energy metabolism.

It’s shown promise in increasing endurance by reducing muscle fatigue (6).

It can also increase insulin which can assist with increasing lean body mass (7).

The standard dose is 500-2,000mg.

Who Takes It?

Anyone wishing to improve their workout quality might benefit from MusclePharm Assault.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (11.5g) with 250mL water and consume 30-60 minutes before exercise.

Side Effects

Creatine can increases water retention, or upset the stomach when not taken with sufficient water.

Beta-alanine can cause a harmless tingling sensation throughout the body.

Pros

  • Very effective ingredients are used in adequate doses for increasing athletic performance
  • Multiple flavours are available to suit your taste.

Cons

  • No “pump” ingredients are included.

Conclusion

Assault is a simple yet effective formula for increasing your athletic performance.

It uses proven ingredients to improve your power and endurance, with a decent dose of caffeine to get you going.

The only downside is that it doesn’t contain any ingredients for “the pump”, which is something that a lot of people want in a pre-workout formula.
