The Ripper Fat Burner Review

August 27, 2016 By Editor

The Ripper Review

The Ripper is a fat-burner made by Cobra Labs.

It’s made to work alongside diet to burn fat, suppress appetite, and maintain energy levels throughout the day.

Cobra Labs was founded in 2010, and distributes its products worldwide to over 100 countries. It is best known for its pre-workout, The Curse.

Ingredients Label

The Ripper

Active Ingredients

Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine is a beta-amino acid that increases Carnosine levels in muscle. This reduces acid build-up and free radicals, which prevents muscle fatigue (1).

The recommended dose is 2-5g.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is a compound used in energy metabolism.

It may only be effective for fat burning in those who are deficient. For healthy individuals, it increases insulin sensitivity and lowers blood glucose, which helps to increase lean mass (2).

The standard dose is 500-2,000mg daily.

Raspberry Ketone

Raspberry Ketone is a compound used for scent and flavouring in foods.

It’s shown fat-burning effects in both test-tube and rat studies, but not yet in humans.

The estimated effective dose is 870-6,200mg.

Green Coffee Extract

Green Coffee Extract contains a compound called Chlorogenic Acid, which may improve heart health and promotes fat loss (3).

The effective dose is 240-3,000mg, depending on the strength of the extract.

Green Tea

Green Tea and its extracts have been used for their fat-burning properties for a long time.

Studies show that it can improve fat oxidation by 17% and also increase insulin sensitivity (4).

The effective dose for fat-burning is 400-500mg.

Caffeine and Guarana

Caffeine increases metabolic rate, as well as power output and athletic performance (5, 6).

Guarana is a second source of caffeine.

The effective dose is about 200-500mg, but varies from person to person.

Olive Leaf Extract

Olive Leaf Extract has been shown to reduce blood pressure, which may reduce any adverse effects from fat burners or stimulants (7).

An effective dose is 500-1000mg.

Cinnamon Bark Extract

Cinnamon reduces blood glucose levels, and improves the body’s use of glucose (8).

Who Takes It?

The Ripper is suited towards anyone wishing to improve their fat loss and energy while dieting.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop with 250mL of water 15-30 minutes before breakfast for the first two days to assess tolerance.

An additional 1 scoop may be taken 5-6 hours later or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Do not exceed 2 scoops within a 24 hour period.

Side Effects

You may feel a tingling sensation throughout your body from Beta Alanine.

Pros

  • A range of ingredients are used, that both increase metabolism and oxidise fat
  • A variety of flavours are available to suit everyone’s taste.

Cons

  • The L-Carnitine, Green Coffee Bean, and Green Tea components are present in very small amounts, and may not be very effective.

Conclusion

The Ripper is a solid formula, but the ratios of ingredients make it seem more of a pre-workout than a fat burner.

The formula relies heavily on a larger dose of Caffeine and the lesser-known Raspberry Ketone to get the job done, which may or may not work.
