Cor-Performance Creatine Review

July 28, 2016 By Editor

Cor-Performance Creatine by Cellucor

COR-Performance Creatine powder is a multi-ingredient Creatine supplement, intended to increase power output and lean body mass.

Cellucor is an award-winning brand, best known for its supplement C4 Extreme, which won bodybuilding.com’s pre-workout of the year in 2014.

Ingredients Label

COR-Performance Creatine

Active Ingredients

Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine is an organic acid that occurs naturally in foods such as meat and eggs, however only in small amounts. Supplementation allows for consumption of greater amounts than reasonably possible from food.

Creatine Monohydrate is the most proven and cost-effective form of Creatine. It increases the production of energy (ATP) in skeletal muscle, resulting in increases both power output (1) and endurance (2).

Creapure is a company based in Germany famed for making the most pure form of creatine in the western world.

Betaine

Betaine has shown potential improve body composition and increase workout capacity (3, 4).

It is also believed to increase the effectiveness of Creatine supplementation, however limited studies have disproved this (5).

The effective dosage is about 2.5-6g daily, taken in two separate doses.

Cinnamon Bark Extract

Cinammon has been thought to increase the uptake of Creatine, due to its insulin-like properties.

Some studies have shown otherwise (6).

Who Takes It?

Any athlete wishing to increase their strength may benefit from COR-Performance Creatine.

How to Take

Mix 1 scoop (11g) with 250mL water daily, and consume alongside a high-carb meal.

Side Effects

Creatine increases water retention in the muscles, meaning you may gain some water weight. A sudden increase in bodyweight of around 2-3kg is common.

Stomach cramping can occur if Creatine is taken with insufficient water.

If too much Creatine is supplemented at once, it may cause nausea or diarrhoea.

Pros

  • Creatine Monohydrate, the most effective form of Creatine is used
  • Flavour selection makes it nicer to consume than plain Creatine

Cons

  • The extras of Betaine and Cinnamon have not been proven to be effective for their intended purpose here
  • The Cinnamon gives a strong spicy taste

Conclusion

Cellucor has a nice idea with COR-Performance Creatine, with added ingredients that intend to improve absorption and effectiveness.

Unfortunately, the extra ingredients don’t appear to fulfil their intended purpose, and most likely add unnecessarily to the price.

The flavour options are a nice touch, though, and each serve still contains an effective amount of Creatine for improving performance.
