cell-tech-review

Cell-Tech is a multi-ingredient Creatine supplement, which aims to increase power output and lean mass.

It’s manufactured by Muscletech, a Canadian Supplement company founded in 1995.

Cell-Tech is one of their leading products, and was originally released in 1998.

Active Ingredients

Creatine Monohydrate and Creatine Nitrate

Creatine is an organic acid which occurs naturally in animal food products.

When consumed in larger doses, it increases in the production of ATP energy, which can increase power output and endurance (1, 2).

Creatine Nitrate is a less-commonly used form, but appears to match the results of others.

Creatine Monohydrate is the most researched and proven form. Both are used in the Cell-Tech formula.

An effective dose of is 3-5g daily.

BCAAs

Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are the amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine.

BCAAs decrease muscle-wasting cortisol levels caused by working out and rapidly replace amino acid levels in muscle, allowing for faster growth and repair (3).

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid shown to have similar effects to Creatine.

It can boost cell volume and the nutrient uptake of muscles.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a fatty acid used in energy metabolism.

In studies it has shown strong antioxidant effects and might improve the body’s use of glucose (4, 5).

The effective dose is 300-600mg.

Who Takes It?

Any athlete wishing to increase their overall physical performance may benefit from using Cell-Tech.

How to Take

Take 1 scoop of Cell-Tech with 250mL of water immediately following your workout.

If you’re not training that day, have your serving in the morning when you wake up.

Side Effects

Creatine increases muscle water retention, and you may gain some water weight.

An increase in bodyweight of around 2-3kg is not uncommon.

Stomach cramping can occur if Creatine is taken without sufficient water.

If too much Creatine is taken at once, it can cause nausea or diarrhoea.

Pros

  • Two effective forms of Creatine are used, in effective amounts
  • Added BCAAs for muscle growth and recovery
  • Taurine for extra pumps.

Cons

  • The amounts of BCAAs and Alpha Lipoic Acid included are quite small.

Conclusion

Cell-Tech is an effective Creatine formula with a few extras thrown in for extra recovery and pump effects.

The Creatine used is an effective amount, and should function well to improve your workout quality.

The extras are a nice addition, but are present in rather small and perhaps ineffective amounts.
